Terror Trials in NY

The real fear is once we, and the rest of the world, learns about just how much torture has been going on some of these guys may walk.

And now, we get to the real purpose of having a civilian trial, going after Bush.

It has nothing to do with some grand ideal or sense of justice, just plain and simple politics.

Buck up fellows!! Here in the USA we actually do a pretty good job bringing bad guys to justice! Our system has worked well for a couple of centuries now and the bad guys will have to do a hell of lot better than THESE jokers to bring us down.

Bringing these terrorists to a circus trial in NY is nothing but politics. There is NO justifiable reason to try them in civilian court other than to put US (the USA and President Bush) on trial. The current administration will stoop to any level to push it's agenda, the people or country be damned. This knee jerk decision to try terrorists in NY was no better thought out than a year wasted pushing to take over health care instead of working on getting the country out of the worst recession/depression in 70 years. At least the population is starting to see that the emperor has no clothes.

I'm not one to gloat, but now that President Obama and AG Eric Holder have both acknowledged that having criminal trials for terrorists in New York City is a bad idea, and utterly unworkable, it seems that they have knocked the props out from under those of you who are still trying to persuade us that it's a good idea.

I have been listening to this morning's political pundits, and they haven't been at all kind to the President and AG. They reported that nobody from the administration ever consulted the authorities in New York before deciding to hold the trials there, and the New York authorities have told them that the security for such legal proceedings, which would probably last for years, would be an intolerable disruption to traffic in the City, and could cost upwards of 2 billion dollars. The President and AG are now considering conducting the trials (brace yourselves) at GITMO, because it's holding facilities are first-rate, and secure from any concerns about terrorist attacks during the trials. Please correct me if I'm mistaken, but I believe that was the conclusion reached by President Bush.
