Actually, it's a republic, but the result is the same. It's in the interim that is of concern, not November of 2012.

Currently, there aren't enough VOTES to pass Obamacare. That's the democratic process. To circumvent that process by the use of legislative chicanery is wrong, which ever party is in power. BUT, especially onerous when there is clear public opinion in opposition to it (going from net approval in the beginning to almost 3 to 1 against at this point).

Abraham Lincoln once asked an audience how many legs a dog has, if you called the tail a leg? When the audience said "five," Lincoln corrected them, saying that the answer was four. "The fact that you call a tail a leg does not make it a leg."

I forgot to add, courtesy of Thomas Sowell.

"legislative chicanery "

what nonsense. you have been believing too many hyperventilating pundits.

How is it chicanery when a bill already passed the Senate by 60 votes?

How is it chicanery if it then passes the House by 51%?

If they then want to amend it using the 51% rule, how is that chicanery when republicans used that exact same process to pass huge tax cuts for the richest people?

You are starting to believe your own propaganda my friend. It aint chicanery when you have more votes than the other guys and are operating under the exact same rules the other guys used to do things we liked about as much as you like health care reform.

I feel your pain. It is no fun to lose elections. But you and the republic will both survive just as I did a few years ago.

Jack,

If it's part of a rational conversation, can you at least provide the text you are quoting? Or do you mean to attempt to appear aloof and above anyone who can't reverse-quote chapter and verse? Don't think that's the case, so the text might be good.

Regards,
Brad

Brad - normally I would quote chapter and verse from the King James version. However, I have had folks tell me that they reject that translation.

But I will do so.

Daniel 2:21
Quote:
And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:

Romans 13:1
Quote:
Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

Titus 3:1
Quote:
Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,

1 Peter 2:13
Quote:
Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
1 Timothy 2:1-2
Quote:
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
BTW - I personally do not hold the Bible as the true word. But I do like some of the sentiments. I presented these because is the OP has used scripture as a foundation of belief.

The source is these is Biblos.com: Search, Read, Study the Bible in Many Languages. It includes most the current translations.

Jack

I would say...

Is it me?? or have I seen Presidents impeached for far less than the horrors that Obama has unleashed on this country?
And, howzabout that impeachment process?
What does it take to get that started?
