Does anyone know?

This is off topic, as far as I know this is where "off topic" stuff is supposed to be, right?

As far as stopping Obama goes, he's doing a pretty good job of it himself. Even people in his own party are abandoning ship and others are "busy" when he visits their state to rally for his health care fiasco. His ratings are plummeting and he didn't accomplish much of anything in his first year even with majorities in both houses. Can you spell "one", as in term?

All true

but it like a horror movie. Until that wooden stake is in place, the vampire just keeps getting back up. Hopefully this next election can further slow his madness down.

Park him in the oval office and tell him to sit in the corner.

Sooner or later, all this "crap" has to be paid for, and when you have to be part of the paying for it maybe you'll realize what it has to do with sailing ..... when you don't have the money for it any more.

There is only one acceptable way for any American; at the voting booth. Sad to see you've lost faith in our system of government, PB. I, for one, think we can withstand the changes Mr. Obama is calling for and if he's wrong we'll have time to fine tune them in future.

I'm really impressed with how many of the "tea bagers" are drawing social security and medicare; the very concept they are so against!!!???!!! I see them as pawns of the insurance industry, those un-elected people making millions off of all of us while writing most of the insurance regulations.

BTW, where I come from the term "tea bager" has nothing to do with healthcare and it's no complement ............. still fits.

The opposition to the healthcare bill isn't near as large as believed; there are many of us for the concept. In our great American tradition, the "anti" forces are organized and vocal; good for them. That's the way we do it here.

Didja hear Roush L. said he'd leave the country if it passes? What a great side effect! Only trouble is .......... he didn't say he wouldn't return.

Oh, almost forgot; this is the off topic forum. If it's not wanted, remove it from the site and it may come to that. On my fave forum (apriliaforum.com) we had the Biker Bar where you could talk anything about bikes and the Rowdy Biker Bar where religon, politics, anything goes was allowed. It got so rough that people were actually arranging fist fights on line ...... and showing up! The mods had to shut both "Bars" down and now don't allow religon or politics but just have a general off-topic just like here. I don't see this group heading in that direction and as long as we keep things intelectual we should be able to air our different opinions.

Because I work in the industry, and my views are controversial, I refrain from making political or religous comments on motorcycle forums as it's not fair to my employeer. Here I feel free to be my wierd, old self. Aren't you guys lucky? LOL

Pray tell DB, how do you divine that I've "given up"? And "fine tune"? Would that be in the same way that Medicare and SS have been "fine tuned"? We already have two huge unsustainable entitlement programs, so obviously, the way to go (since we can't afford them) is to add another unaffordable one.

Will I take SS when I'm eligible? Damn straight I will. I was forced to pay into it, so I'll take out of it. That's not hypocrisy, that's simple common sense. Of course, if they want to write me a check for everything I've put in it, and all my employers have put in it in my name, at 2% interest, for the past 44 years, I'm quite happy to forego my stake in it.

The Tea Party folks don't call themselves "teabaggers", that's a purely liberal pejorative (first used by Anderson Cooper, who later apologized for using it).

Just what effect do you think adding 30 million new policy holders will do for those rapacious insurance companies? And I suppose you think that federal regulators will somehow be less pressured by the insurance lobbyist than the state ones?

It's certainly true that many things need fixed in the health care system, but, there is a big difference between knowing they are needed, and the package being presented which does nothing to address the real problems. "Better health care at lower cost". I guess if you totally ignore history, you can believe that.

It's not though, just the process, as unseemly and smelly as it is, but the product they are trying to ram down the throats of the American public that is bad. A product that needs Enron style accounting, backroom deals blatant political payoffs, and legislative chicanery to get this far. So you tell me who's "given up" on the democratic process.

Addendum: And btw, if you think somebody sitting in a cubicle in DC knows better what is best for you than yourself, by all means, embrace "change".
