China Fruit

Is it just me or do you find jarred peaches, packaged fruit from "save-a-lot" and ALDI, that came from China a bit disconcerting? We are just a state away from Georgia - the supposed peach capital of the US.

What is happening here?

Not to mention all the Chinese seafood in the freezer section. I even saw Salmon recently that said it was sourced from China. Salmon! Seriously! I do my best to avoid buying anything from China - would rather support Made in USA or at least items sourced from our friendly and fair trading partners. Balance of trade is the responsibility of all of us, corporations are not going to do it for us.

Well, for one thing the Chinesse don't have to wory about the costs incurred complying with the EPA, FDA, SBA, FCC, ICC, INS, IRS, or labor unions. Not saying good or bad, just saying.

Yup, #4 & #5 are the probably a good proportion of the cause for most of the 'trauma' that is being self-inflicted by our 'government'. Add to that catastrophic corporate taxes upon taxes and taxes, the rapid decline of the worth of the $US, runaway torts, exponential required insurances, .... why is anyone surprised by this? Id buy the Chinese stuff, cheaper than USA stuff.

Unless you are a unionized school teacher, a government worker, a shyster or a politician .... you've 'lost your country'.

This is pretty much a "political subject", which probably belongs in the Political/Religion/War/Government sub-forum.

Not agreeing/disagreeing with the post contents, just mentioning that we have a place for ranting about unfairness of government & politics so that the other forums don't have to wade through our strongly held opinions on matter other than sailing

Hey peeps, Bent is quite right this is turning political and will no doubt contine to go that way or as near as I can tell. I am finding it a bit jarring I must admit, indeed its giving me the pip so to preserve the peace , indeed to keep it all peaches and cream we'll ship this lot off to the other place.
