Bachmann reconfirms her position ...

... as a charter member of the Clown Brigade.

Quote:
"I support intelligent design," Bachmann told reporters in New Orleans following her speech to the Republican Leadership Conference.

That's no less unfounded or fantasy-based than collectivism, your approach to issues analysis, your Ph.D . . .

It's funny Rags, the bigger the precieved threat to their ideology the more assinine the left sounds, this continuous reference of the GOP as the "clown brigade" is right off some pre-school playground; On one hand it kinda makes a person wonder, on the other, it's explains a lot

You have to remember Pappy that the legions of tolerance only expect it of others, not themselves.

Now, a clown could be someone who claims that the GOP is trying to bring back segregation. You know, like the head of the Dem National Committee, Debbie Wasserman-Shultz. Or that requiring a photo id to vote is some kind of trick to keep Dem voters from voting. Never mind that most of them have a photo id, courtesy of the government, due to living on the plantati ..... er, being on various government programs. No, it's all a nefarious plot that has less supporting evidence then "intelligent design".

I particularly liked his defense of using "Clown Brigade" that he used in another thread. It's okay for him to use because someone else has. Leaving one to wonder just what he did, all those years in college.

I point out that Ms. Bachmann is acting foolishly, vis-a-vis her attitude toward science education, and the only retorts others on this board seem to be able to muster are personal jabs at me.

No, you don't point out any such thing. All you do is draw an assumption from one statement that said nothing about her attitude towards science education. You might not have known, after all those years of higher education, but science is more than just the creation of the Universe. Oh, and man-made global warming. (Of which it is interesting to note, they are "adjusting" the sea level numbers. Not by a lot, but they are fudging them.)

It's just another drive by denigration. Which seems to be your only talent and interest.

Well, who's the real fool here, a person that believes in creationism, or the troll who labels a person a fool simply because she's a republican

You do know our Dem/Liberal/socialist/muslim President also claims to be Christian, so I guess that would make him a fool on yet another level

She's not a fool because she is a Republican. And I never said otherwise. (Of course, that begs the question, "Is she a Republican because she's a fool?" But, I digress.)

However, anyone who believes that Creationism, or it's bastard child "Intelligent" Design, should be taught in public school as science deserves all the ridicule they get. If Creationism is taught, then should we also teach Ptolemy's geocentric universe as being equally valid to the heliocentic model of Copernicus? For that matter, how about the flat earth of the judeo-christian bible; should we teach that the earth has edges, corners, et cetera? Should we teach alchemy, and have students try their hands at turning lead into gold? (Believe me, Freshman Chemistry labs are hard enough to get through as it is.) And should students be told that if one wants to estimate the age of the earth, or the universe, all the work of geologists and astrophysicists are no more valid than counting up the begats in ancient texts?

Creationism and ID are religion. The federal courts have repeatedly found just that. But, even if the courts hadn't ruled as they have, Creationism (inc. ID) is still no more a scientific hypotheses than the idea that Pele lives in Halemaʻumaʻu on Kīlauea, and is responsible for the volcanic eruptions of Hawaiʻi.

Aloha

Nice post ..... but what does it have to do with extrapolating a person's attitude towards science education from supporting ID?

Oops, my fault. I mistakenly believed you were trying to support your assumption, rather than trying to ridicule someone.

One wonders if you have the same disdain for the "Homosexuality is genetic" crowd. Despite the best efforts of science to prove it, it still remains a matter of faith, not science.
