How can the nation with the highest incarceration rate claim to be the freest?

I don't agree with indoctrinating kids to any political point of view, they are kids, they should be coloring things like cows and flowers and trains and butterflies.
Jack-we enjoy freedoms that most of the rest of the world can't even imagine (Canada too, so you should understand).

I'll try to answer as if I were a republican pundit: I'd say that the job creators within the prison industry promote freedom by getting government out of the way and letting them unleash the beast of capitalism within the prison system by making prisoners work (you know, creating jobs!) on patriotic things like cleaning up the toxic Gulf of Mexico for 40 cents an hour, while pocketing the profits and paying reduced taxes.

That's freedom!

now if they went back to the days of "Lorton Farm" near DC, where the inmates grew, manufactured, managed and harvested almost everything they needed to be incarcerated that would be something.....

But somewhere along the line, our leaders decided it was "cruel and unusual" punishment to actually have inmates work....huh? I guess that prepares them for life on the outside.

so we now give them country club, education, etc at an annual cost of almost 6 figures each...

I am curious as to what rights those might be. Constitutionally guaranteed right are more obvious, but I know that some hold there are other rights as well.

I know that I have mobility rights in the Canadian Charter not expressed in any US document. And I have a right to security of person which you do not.

And I know you have the right to not have soldiers quartered and you have the second amendment.

Have you studies other countries rights?
