Obama left for vacation today

Geez,
It feels like he's been on vacation!

And your point?

Quote:
There has been criticism of the president's vacation at this time. But how does the number of vacation days the president has spent compare to his predecessors? CBS Radio's Mark Knoller has kept track of presidential vacations for years and supplied the data.

So far, President Obama has taken 61 vacation days after 31 months in office. At this point in their presidencies, George W. Bush had spent 180 days at his ranch where his staff often joined him for meetings. And Ronald Reagan had taken 112 vacation days at his ranch.

Among recent presidents, Bill Clinton took the least time off -- 28 days.

To be fair, a presidential vacation away from the White House is not the same as a vacation for the average person. The president is still in contact with his advisers and on call for any emergency.

Look at it this way, think of all the money you'll be saving while he's away.

Love the new avatar!

Yeah, I know, it's like we have a teen with a bad attitude and an unlimited CC in hand

Friend I know made the suggestion with the avatar, still haven't corrected my spelling. You know it's amazing, when I was in school I was the reader, spelling bee winner. All grown up I watch movies and use spell check!!
Oh and cut up on Sailnet when not at work or on the water, which the former is more than the latter wish I could throw a tear in there.

You know, it might surprise you and all, but there are a variety of opinions on the man. Not all of them agree with you. Not to mention that the facts regarding presidential holidays stand regardless of your feelings about the matter. Numbers don't change because you really dislike them

Probably around the same amount as others that share your job. Could be wrong though, not know a thing about your career path and all.

All this talk about his vacations is distracting from the issue at hand: the man has to go, and we need to purge both DC and academia of his mindset.

A very wise young man I know has an idea. He believes that anyone with a desire to be elected to public office should automatically be disqualified from doing so. He suggests that a draft be implemented to pick citizens, presumable with a certain level of education and probably no criminal record, at random who would be forced to serve one term. Kind of like jury duty.

We could do away with all the election BS and get rid of cronyism.

I like the idea.

Actually I am very disappointed in him. He was / is far to willing to compromise, which only creates half way measures. He had a power base and did not use it. Now there is a stagnant Congress that can get nothing done.

Having said that, when I look at the alternatives, I fear for the US. 18th century solutions will not solve 21st century problems. And like the elephant and the mouse, Canada will be shaken by the collapse of the US.

Presidents are always working, even if they're away.

However, when I was in business we had to deal with the fact that " Perception is Reality"
He or his advisors ( If he's not smart enough) and I'm beginning to wonder; should realize that taking a vacation in a place that caters to the Rich and Famous..at a time when the bottom is falling out of the worlds financial markets, shows how out of touch he really is.
I'd venture to say that a vast number of people that voted for him..couldn't " Hope" to vacation on MV.

It would have been wiser imo to pick someplace a little more austere, given recent events.
