Sheriff uses deputies to get Cannabis.

- The GBI says a former south Georgia sheriff used his own deputies to remove marijuana which he supplied to a friend.

Roy Wiley resigned as Sheriff of Turner County August 12th and pleaded guilty to violating his oath of office.

Agent Craig Rotter said Wiley asked deputies to remove a small amount of marijuana used to train drug dogs and then gave it to his friend Billy McCard.

McCard's wife suffers from cancer and it was given for therapeutic purposes.

McCard was charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

The deputies who retrieved the marijuana were not charged because they didn't know it was being used for illegal purposes.

A special election in November will choose a sheriff to serve out the remainder of Wiley's term.

Will lost his police officer certification. He would have to wait 2 years before appealing to have it re-instated. That measure would be left up to the state's Peace Officer Council.

I wonder if he'll become a member of Leap. I think it's interesting they said it was given to a friend to relieve symptoms of cancer therapeautically, and then they call that illegal purposes.

Really.

You know, I've never been a big partaker, for lack of a better word, but it definitely stymies me when I watch this nation's reaction to marijuana. I've always said "legalize it", but I don't think the tobacco companies and the nation's large distillers would have any part of it

When people ask me if I ever did drugs I simply tell them that I graduated high school in 1969 and let them draw their own conclusions.

I had hoped that by the time the reins of power were in the hands of those of us who came of age in that time the drug laws would become sane but I have been disillusioned on that score. Instead of introducing sanity, they have become more insane than they were then.

10's of thousands of people in prison for long terms for smoking a weed while the tobacco companies (I am a smoker) continue to add more and more toxins to their product to increase their addictiveness?

Q: What is the difference between a tobacco exec. and a heroin pusher?
A: the Tobacco execs dress better.

Govt. should stay out of folks' personal lives. If one is not putting others at risk it shouldn't be the business of others on one's personal activities.

big 10-4 on government interference. i believe drugs should be legal, but taxed and regulated just like alcohol. you can't drink and work, ya can't burn one and function on the job as if you were straight. but if you can drink in the privacy of your own home, you should be able to leave your bong on the coffee table.........

What y'all REALLY need is to try some B.C. Bud - it is our biggest product after forestry - honestly. It is apparently famous far & wide as being the best there is.
