Stranger in public
I ran into a Gentleman this morning after Church. We pulled into the same parking lot at the same time. I pulled in front of the newspaper stand, to which the headlines read, "Mexican Military flies over South Texas " or something like that.... I know you guys hold my feet to the fire.
NeWhoo, I said to this gentleman stranger, "Isn't that something, what goes around comes around." and noticed as I said it, he was wearing a United States Marines cap.
He said , "Huh?" and I showed him the headlines. And said,"Sir, I thank you for your service, and I want to say this. I love our military and disapprove of how they are used by our elected leaders."
To which he replied, "There's going to be a revolt in this country."
He also said, "I am a Viet Nam Veteran". I said, "Thank you sir. When I was a little girl sitting in the stands before class Prayed with tears before Almighty God to bring y'all home. Every morning, I did this before class. And I thought teh war would never end. And I also thought when it was over, there wouldn't be anymore war."
He replied "Same song, different faces."
And then he said something that hit home again... he said, "When I came home, my commander said we could not wear our uniforms."
And I said, "I remember Jane Fonda and how she led that group and I wanted to slap her around a little bit for that."
He nodded his head, and then I said, but then years later she apologized.
He replied, "People don't change." And walked off.
My perspective is He should have been able to be proud to wear his uniform for his Nation, and he wanted to be proud of his service, and when he came home all he got was spit on.
But I wanted to help them all.
