I didn't mean to limit my comments only to literal Corporations - perhaps I should have said Institutional Donors.
I think that any contributions beyond what an average citizen can pony up - say $1000 tops - should be put in a pool and doled out on some kind of formula to all legitimate candidates. I'm sure it wouldn't be difficult to come up with a fair & proper process for this and then anyone who wanted to "support the democratic process" could donate all they wanted but no-one would be beholden to them.
Fat chance of it ever happening though.
