What the HELL is going on??

Someone
please tell me what the HELL's wrong with

all the
people that run this country!!!!!!
Both
Republicans
&
Democrats

We're
"broke" & can't help our own Seniors,
Veterans, Orphans, Homeless
etc.,???????????

In the
last months we have provided aid to Haiti ,
Chile , Pakistan , Lybia , Egypt and Turkey .. And
now Japan
Literally,
BILLIONS of DOLLARS!!!

Our retired seniors
living on a 'fixed income' receive no aid
nor do they get any breaks while our government
and religious organizations pour
Hundreds of Billions
of $$$$$$'s and Tons of Food
to Foreign Countries!

We have
hundreds of adoptable
children who are shoved aside to make
room for the adoption of foreign
orphans.

AMERICA: a
country where we have homeless without
shelter, children going to bed hungry,
elderly going without 'needed' meds, and
mentally ill without treatment
-etc,etc.

YET........................
They
have a 'Benefit'
for the people of Haiti on 12 TV stations, ships
and planes lining up with food, water, tents
clothes, bedding, doctors and medical supplies.

Imagine if
the *GOVERNMENT* gave 'US' the same support they
give to other
countries.

Sad isn't
it?

I am not aware that benefits for Seniors, Veterans, Orphans, Homeless or etcetera have been reduced or eliminated.

Please provide a link that brings light to these assertions.

You have the richest country in history - would you wait until everything was perfect in the States before lending a hand to grossly poorer countries/people?

If you had ANY figures within your grasp you would know what a relatively tiny amount of the federal budget you are talking about. The VAST majority of your federal $$ are spent on social type programs at home.

I hope you don't practice the same philosophy with your personal charity.

Truly, Mike, you should stick to the Jokes of the Day forum.

Don't know where this one originated but it is nowt more than another one of his cut'n'pastes. Paste this load of nonsense into google and you'll get a multitude of hits.

I've said it before mikemcee, if you insist on posting this crap at least have the decency to attirbute the quote. Failure to do so makes the post nothing more than spam.

Yeah, riches based on ripping the resources of smaller countries and small communities, but isn't that how all empires strive to be successful?

The line says "were broke & can't help our seniors, veterans, orphans & homeless. it doesn't say anything about there benefits. I myself a 20 year veteran havent seen a cost of living pay increase in my retirement for over two years. I just know that the majority of my input is correct and shows the vast lack of correct governing in Washington gets a score of D-. If you think that all of your money going to places other than right here in the USA is alright, then you get what vote for and allow to happen. I say that every Senator and Congressman have a two term limit, just like the President.

Well, not that I have much support for "them" (those in political office), and I hope this isn't construed as being as such. Having said that, wanna know where my "cost of living increase" comes from? Me. I'm a "Generation X-er", and words like "pension", and "retirement", 'they' have removed from my vocabulary, unless in a conversation about someone else. Oh, they still take a very, very large portion of my check each payday for this thing they call "SSI", and I'm told those dollars all go to fund other people...that are retired....or disabled....or don't work because they don't want to. There's another word, I'm not sure how to pronounce it, but it's spelled, "raise" that I've heard my parents talk about, but I couldn't speak on it as it's something I'm not familiar with. Now, I'm in support of stopping the "outflow" until we get a handle on how much money we actually have, but by all means, it's some of these programs that you're speaking of that is crippling this country. How much more can we continue to load the wagon, when a large block of the voting public that's currently retired is miffed because they haven't gotten a COL recently? If you were a politician would you vote to cut SSI and Medicare? It's killing us, and if something doesn't change, this country will slip from "the elite" and could easily follow the path that Greece is taking. It's quite the quagmire when more people get laid off/fired/retire, go to a government office for replacement income, when that office depended on that person's previous salary, at least a portion of it, to fund the very program he/she is there to "benefit" from. I'm sorry, but the mule is tired, we can't continue to plow the same old fields. If we want a change, then what we've got to do is say to one of these policitians, "Listen, go up there and cut EVERYTHING that needs cutting and I guarantee you I'll vote for you again!". But that NEVER happens. What happens is, we scream and cry about the "wrongly spent money" until it affects us....and then, we stand on our soapboxes and cry until the cows come home, and "guarantee that guy ain't getting re-elected". And then the cycle starts all over. It's time for something called "personal responsibility". Know who's going to be accountable for my retirement? Me. Know who's gonna make sure the neighbor's kids eat? Me. Know who's going to pay for the best medical care I can afford for my parents? Me. Know who's going to send my kids to college? Me. If there's anything left, I'm going sailing.

If you increase other programs it still increases the U.S. debt by that amount, and puts an increased strain on the dollar -- both in it's value and it's losing defacto world currency status. So an increase in a useless program DOES deminish a useful program.

So yes, increasing elsewhere does water down the things that don't get increased. It's not like our currency is backed by gold anymore. And even if it was, our gold reserves would go down, which is not a good thing.

Put another way, you and I have to pay more taxes for the other programs, leaving less money to enjoy and invest at home.

Losing investment and education (human investment) dollars is a lot like losing blood. You can't say that a wound from your left artery doesn't mean much because you are already losing so much blood out of the right artery.

Value doesn't doesn't grow on trees. Although it may seems so if you aren't paying taxes.

Regards,
Brad

Does the U.S. Federal Government still provide such corporate welfare as Oil Depletion Allowances, Crop subsidies and so forth? I haven't kept up with all the new insanities of Washington but I well remember some like those I mentioned.

How about promoting sunset clauses in ALL spending bills?

Mike,

You think that it's really all that great in Haiti? Tell ya' what, why don't you buy a one-way ticket to there? Take along a good-sized cardboard box, so you have someplace to stay. Go ahead, I dare you to live off the "fat of the land" in Port au Prince for a few months. Heck, it should be easy with all that US aid floating around, right? Once you have made your fortune in Haiti, you can buy a ticket back to the States. That is, if you really wanna come back here and "slum it" with us poor saps.
