I swear - this batch of candidates is making the GOP a freakin' laughing stock.
I've lived in Texas for the last 10 years - and I had no idea how stupid Perry was until he started talking. He just never really opened his mouth publicly in Texas that I can remember. I honestly thought he'd tear up the field at the time. Then he opened his mouth. And now Cain?
What a bunch of idiots. They're making Palin look smart! And that's really saying something!

Weeeeell, it's only sex. At least he didn't get his knob polished in the Oval Office, and then lie about it under oath. I don't believe I ever had sex without asking for it first. If you don't ask, how are you gonna know? Is it sexual harrassment just to ask, because if it is, almost all of us would be guilty! According to Sharon, he didn't press the issue after she declined. Harrassment, by definition, refers to systematic, continued, unwanted and annoying actions. If he only asked once, what was the continued course of conduct that made it legally actionable as a sexual harrassment? He said he didn't sexually harrass her, and, based on what she said, legally, he didn't. If asking for sex disqualifies one from the Presidency, then I guess that would disqualify Bill Clinton and John Kennedy, and it's hard telling how many others.
Interesting that the woman retains a high profile celebrity lawyer (who's paying that bill?) to "represent" her, though there is no legal action being taken.

Um, don't know about where you come from, but sticking your hand up someone's skirt and pushing their head down toward your crotch is beyond "asking" here. Of course, we could just be more civilised here in Australia

Indeed. It might even suggest she's not interested in monetary reimbursement for Cain's actions, but for honesty in someone she knows is lying to the public. Heaven forbid people stand up for honesty in those running for president!

Face it. Once the words "sex scandal" and "female victim" appeared in the media, it was only a matter of time before Gloria Allred was in the midst of it.
Where is the official sexual request form for high profile people? Anyone got a copy?
To me, the question is whether he was married at the time and not legally separated. Anyone know the answer to that? Also how long ago was it?
Besides that, he seems like a real person as opposed to a crooked politician. Like he won't go giving his supporters free cars and dealerships like the other guy did. He might not even bailout his friends, like the other guy did.
Hasn't Cain guest-hosted the Limbaugh show many times in the past?
The most interesting thing to me about all this is how this field of candidates is proving the "all ideology, no substance" truth of hard-core conservatism. It all sounds good as long as you have a foil to criticize. But when it comes time to lead with ideas, all you get is astonishing stupidity and crotch grabbing.
Of course, I'm far more interested in the cultural aspect of this whole debacle than the politics (for which I can't give much of a damn). For example, it will be interesting to see how Limbaugh fares over the next few years with his influence. After all, he's really the father of the Tea Party/Super-Con movement (all just to sell his tea of course - but I digress) - and has been working on it for 20+ years. And now it's finally reached a level of influence that's actually shaped this laughing-stock of candidates.
Will Rush get so frustrated that he reverses himself and runs for prez because he realizes he's the only one that can even get close to making this crap sound half-way reasonable? Of course, he'd be crushed before he even got started - but what else can he do besides fade into an oblivion he himself wrought through stupid candidates? Is this really the new face of conservatism?
