BentSailor will become famous soon enough
Already knew erps (Ray) was an honest / stand-up guy. He's already come out before with (at least one) comment acknowledging that he accepts firearms as a trade-off between higher violent crime & personal protection / liberty. I disagree with where he decides the trade-off is balanced, but he at least acknowledges it is one. Doesn't dodge questions or the consequences of his beliefs either like some others - which is a refreshing change hereabouts

As stand-up a guy as he might be though, I wouldn't vote for him. Aside from being in the wrong country, voting for a man with good character yet supporting the wrong policies is still going to result in the wrong legislation being signed into law. It might be done by a guy I can respect, but it's still going to move the country in a direction I see being detrimental to it's civilians

Same goes with guns, right? As you would agree, there are problematic decision-makers in those possessing guns - so we should get rid of the guns, not tackle the decision-makers. Same principle.
Then we should limit government the way a limit guns. There is a reason we don't sell .50 cal machine guns at 7-11. Small arms = limited damage in the hands of problematic decision makers. The same is true of government.

They don't sell politicians at the 7-11 either. They are a restricted group of a fixed number with the privilege of wielding the powers of government. Just as there is a restricted group with the power to sell/buy .50 cal machine guns. Members of both privileged groups can misuse that power and, given common principles being argued, that means taking the privilege away only from the person misusing it, not from everyone that has it.

Vote out your politicians abusing their power and stop selling .50 calibre machine guns to those that abuse the privilege not afforded others. Or you can at least admit that your principles change depending on whether they're being used for/against your political beliefs
