Voters Attribute Economic Woes... to Bush

A surprise to some, I'm sure, but not to alot of others. Something to consider as the Republicans wind their way through their primary candidates - the independent voters aren't just lining up behind the "Blame Obama" catch-cry

An interesting article and polling to be sure. I think the Republicans need to start figuring out what they stand for rather than just what they are against. The discussions in the primary contest have been remarkable in that no one other than Paul seems to ever talk about policy directions - it is all about Romney's tax rate, Newt's wives and Santorum's focus on family issues to the exclusion of everything else.

Average people want to hear what the next president plans to do to keep the budding recovery happening and just being in favor of the policies of the Bush years (less regulation and lower taxes for rich people and corporations) won't do it. People, other than the ideologically driven and rich folks, know what that led to and are not stupid enough to fall for it again. What was it that Bush tried to say, "Fool me once, ...".

Too bad they did not ask where the issue REALLY started, you might hear things like Greenspan and the pres. that had him in charge of the money. Then again, most probably realize the bank bailouts per say, started at the end of Bush's term, but were finished up with Obama having to deal with it.

As also pointed out, the repubs have not tried to work with ANY of the D's to fix per say what is going on, so even IF, obama might be, is etc the worst pres lets say, the current repubs flipflop, do not know there arse from their head, so chances of them beating obama are probably slim and none.

As I have said before, many in my circle of friends that are R suporters for many years, are not seeing them helping folks, other than the 1%, that will hurt them big time down the road. As this poll is pointing out.

I know a bunch that feel the loans or flat out giving the banks etc money, probably would have been better to loan/give it to the people to pay back the fraudulent loans given out, help the low/middle a bit, upper would also be helped.........we may be in for a fall, that we will not recover from ever per say!

1870-1890 recession/depresion all over, but insteaad of Britain being the super power, US the up and coming, the US is the super power, China, India etal are the up and coming!

The next election isn't between Bush and Obama. Bush may get the blame for putting the car in the ditch, but independents apparently aren't too happy with Obama setting the car on fire afterwards.

Quote:
A majority of independent voters have soured on Obama's presidency, disapprove of his handling of the economy and do not have a clear idea of what he hopes to accomplish if re-elected, the Times reported.

Only 31 percent of independent voters have a favorable opinion of the president and two-thirds say he has not made real progress in fixing the economy, the newspaper said.
