Delivery

We just learned of a Stop and Shop service called Peapod.

It is not available in all areas but most of their territory. There is a listing of states on their website. For Rhode Island, the delivery rate is $6.95 for orders over $100. They also raise it slightly if fuel prices go up. So with a tip, expect to pay around $12 to deliver a big load of groceries to the dock. If you have a town dock accessible, you might be able to tie the mother-ship and load right into the boat, skipping the dink.

While we still prefer to walk or bike to the store, this is worth considering as an alternative.
Yes, cabs can also be had and that is viable in some cases as is the bus.
Just putting this out there as another possibility.
Carry on.

Re: provisioning stops

Belfast, Maine has a city dock that allows free tie up for water, lunch, shopping( coop grocery store next door to laundromat.) about 1/8 th mile. Free carts to use to shop. 2 hour limit negotiable depending on press of overnight paying folks. Free dingy dock. Anchor out or $30 moorings.

Re: provisioning stops

BTW, we are still working on how we are going to make this into a forum or sticky, or whatever. We are just filtering the specifics. So be patient all.

Vilano Beach, Florida

Vilano Beach, Florida. Just north of St. Augustine

There is a free dinghy dock at Vilano Beach with a Publix that is less than a 1/2 mile walk. Nice new floating dock and a nice big Publix. The anchorage is rolly and not well protected (not unlike St Augustine). It is just North of the St Augustine inlet.
