The best bread recipe's II

I know there are some really good bread recipe's and I know there must be another thread about the best bread.
But here's my deal.

I had the best bread recipe'.
It's a southern, historic, french recipe', all at the same time.
It was Jean LaFitte's own recipe' he used in his own galley.
I had this recipe'.
It was in a recipe' book I had copied the whole thing from my boss' mom.
It was a genuine Louisiana cook book that had all of the old fashioned recipe's from LA people and even said how to skin a deer in 5 minutes.
The artwork was incomparable. Sketches of people and things of the area.
Jean LaFitte was sketched on his Baquette recipe.
I had to have a copy and used the copier at the office, then put it in a black three ring binder, back in the mid 80's.
Someone stole this out of my car a couple of years ago.
It was my absolute favorite cookbook ever!
I used it all the time.
I miss my baquette recipe'.
It's simply the best I ever had!

420, dude!

And the patent listed is for "Cannabinoids as antioxidants and neuroprotectants"

Heh, heh, heh. Now I'm really hungry for bread. CANDY BARS! Who has the chips?

On a semi-related note, I'm going for a three-day charter this weekend and was thinking about trying my hand at making bread on board. Does anyone have any good recipes that work in a boat oven, or any tips or tricks?

Re: The best bread recipe's II

Heres one from the net.
Ingredients
8 thick (3/4-inch/2 cm) slices day-old French bread
3 tbsp (45 mL) butter, softened
3 cups (750 mL) thawed frozen sliced peaches, halved crosswise
2 cups (500 mL) milk
2/3 cup (150 mL) granulated sugar
1/2 cup (125 mL) 10% cream
3 eggs
1 tbsp (15 mL) vanilla
1 tbsp (15 mL) icing sugar
Preparation

Spread both sides of bread slices with butter; tear into bite-size pieces. Toss with peaches; place in greased 8-inch (2 L) square baking dish.

Whisk together milk, sugar, cream, eggs and vanilla until smooth; pour over bread mixture, gently pressing to soak. Let stand for 5 minutes.

Bake in 350ºF (180ºC) oven until golden, puffed and custard is set, 50 to 60 minutes. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving. Dust with icing sugar.

Re: The best bread recipe's II

Sheesh, is this all you guys could come up with??

Maybe I should have just asked for it.

I've searched the net to no avail.
I have not seen any baquette recipe' even similar to the one I love so much that was stolen from me.

Does anyone have a really good French bread baquette recipe' from the old days??
Or should I say, the Jean LaFitte era... or there about.

Merci boucoup.

With the perfect French baquette recipe this would be quite amazing.

I had one, I think I wrote about it in the first post.
The absolute best.
Tip one.
It will not rise in an ice cold boat.

has a good an easy baguette recipe. I'm not sure how well it would work on a boat. It works best with a baking stone, and I don't think my baking stone would fit in a tiny galley oven.
