A good dark rum of which there are plenty to choose from in the islands- look to the local brands- squeeze of lime juice and a splash of tonic.
When at home in NY it brings me back to the islands, when in the islands it rounds out the glow.
cheers

Though I now favor a heavily peated scotch such as Laphroig.

Never having the right ingredients to make a proper "bar" drink, I've settled on:

GROG!!

1/2 and 1/2 rum and water, serve cold on hot days, warm on cold. Can be sweatened for taste

go british and instead of straight water (ugh!) add tea. If you have fresh citrus, add it, In the tropics, quinine. Actually, I can't think of anything that doesn't go good with good cheap rum.

Hey Wildcard, I did not know that a mojito had sugar in it. I will have to try that.
