Hi Simon V - If you can wait for delivery to a US location - I'd go with Brinkman's Farms canned meats. They're awesome! Turkey, Beef, Chicken and they all taste good. Try the lower sodium - you won't be sorry and you won't kill off your kidneys with all the salt of other canned "foods". On the intertube just type in Brinkman's Turkey Farm, Ohio. Good eating....Kat s/v Adelante!

Just FYI...Simon is currently somewhere in the south pacific, on his way back to Oz...and has been for several months... and does not have real internet access on his Ericson 39...so will not be able to respond more likely than not...especially if his SSB radio isn't repaired, since he won't even have basic e-mail access.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Wink Bisquick Anyone!

If you like pancakes for breakfast instead of spam, try bisquick in the hardy plastic container. It has a very long shelf life. Just add water, shake and pour. They even have one with bluberries in it! It is cheap, convenient and easy to store. And you can buy it just about anywhere!

I also use the foil pouchs they take up less room and are good for one or two meals.. On canned meats, chicken (sweet sue is a great brand) tuna maceral,
sardines are all good and easy to use and make a meal of. I recently tried spam again after yrs and it was not only way to salty but didnt taste good
If you want processed try a hillshire farms polish sausages they are vacumed packed for frig and they do last 2-4months kept cold, you can use them 100ways , 1lb of sausase i divide up into two meals, one night with mac and cheeze the 2d night i frly it up and put it in jumbalya mix (zatarans is the best mix)
Also corned beef is good and can be used in lots of things.
one of the cheapest sources of canned goods esp meats is the dollarstore, general dollar.. the tins of chicken are 2 for $1, they will sell cases if requested too...
Also on canned veggies and fruits which have tripled in price in the grocery store, (food lions own brand is $1.00 per can and delmonte is $1.30 a can)
I found at general dollar 4cans of tomatoes for $1.. They carry beans also
Lucky brands mostly but they are very good..

I agree with others...the best canned meat I've found is Brinkman's. The meat lasts for ages in the cans, the beef is good - like beef stew beef - as are the other types of meat. Cooks up nicely. Their site is Brinkmanfarms dot com.

I thought id chime in on provisioning, an over whelming task. As a very well trained cook, i have bought staples for bread making, meals including beans both dehydrated and reg to soak in pressurecooker, canned meat i got assortement of brinkmans and whilingers both very good(beware large cans)
tomatoes (canned all types) spices, rice and pastas.. While i cant freeze too much meat , i also keep tvp on hand should we run out of canned meat, tuna, maceral, and the like
i think brinkmans is the best.. for meat
spam sucks, its all salt
if you want sausages to take and have a frige i suggest any of hillshire farms meats their keibasas last 3 full months kept cold.. you can make jumbolaya with it too, its great..
for all you who just open a can, consider the beef stews, canned hormel chilis and hormel corned beef, i have even made spaggetti balonase with the corned beef its very good..
I also stock red feather butter that is yummy, recommend indivual jar or squeeze mayo (it doesnt need frig) on veggies i buy them case lots
corn and beans with spices are great on top of rice..
you dont have to live out of cans eating pork and beans live a little , get some books and cook, what else do you have to do on the hook
also a man i heard of he eats marmalade sandwichs for breakfast and for lunch and dinner peanut butter
while i wouldnt do it, i use the peanut butter to make a sweet sour sauce to go over chicken saty, or tai noodes with red pepers..
for reciepes i went to the vegetarian lists got good ideas with and withiout meats, it is a great place they are helpful and there are many cruisers

you dont have to live on spam, that is no way to live, all those nitrates>>>>
