It used to be like Coors beer...you could only get it from Haiti if you knew an airline pilot. I knew one and got some. It was pricey and tasted like paint thinner. It was also available in downtown Nassau for a couple of bucks less. Maybe Haitians have more refined taste...or burned out taste buds.

Anyone have a good (favorite) recipe for hot buttered rum? Searches on the net have turned up a couple, but none quite perfect, yet
MMR,

I took a look on the net too, all the recipes seem to be very similar. I bet the Boatyard has a secret ingredient. I wonder if they would be willing to give the recipe if you called them.

If not, we could do some serious research in Chicago next month!!!

That was my thought, too, so Chuckles and I hoofed it over there last Saturday, only to be told that "bartender doesn't have all the ingredients, but he can give it a shot.." and then I got something that looked like warm milk, but had kind of a rummy taste. NOT what I got the first time, and NOT what I was looking for...so either the bartender is NOT telling, or different bartender, or first time was a fluke

MORE RESEARCH, for sure!!!!

My gorgeous wife and I are about to tip a few Dark and Stormies with a fine bottle of Mount Gay Extra Old.

And Dick - if Barbencourt tastes like paint thinner - it can't taste like victory. That's gotta be napalm - right Bobbers?

To booze!

I've never tried a dark and stormy with mt gay extra old but I bet it's great. I want to try one with the extra old gosling's, that might be a waste of old gosling's but it would be phenominal!

chall03 will become famous soon enough
Rum is not really as in vogue over my side of the world on account of the fact that the local stuff is a little rough to taste and is also generally associated perhaps unfairly with a rough type of person.....

Personally I can't go past Angostura 1919......On ice when i'm feeling all mature and sophisticated and stuff......and with lime and coke when i'm not.

I have with the help of Angostura, converted many former anti-rum, beer drinking aussies.
