Appleton Estates, "Reserve", a sipping rum that's so good the Food network did a review on it.

Can only be purchased in Jamaica, not exported.

Hmmm. Sounds like a damn good reason to visit Jamaica to me.

After sailing and bartending in the caribbean for almost ten year, I am a firm believer in Cruzan rum made on St. Croix, the gold two year old is smooth and mixes great with anything, While the upper end Estate Diamond single barrel is fine straight or with a couple of cubes, Clipper is their spiced rum which is lighter than Capt. Morgan, and not as Cherry sweet as Sailor Jerry's. and one of my favorites that works well in Darkand stormys is the Black Strap rum it is a heavy molassas rum that if you have a taste for it can't be beat. Then of course the hidden spot of the domino club has it's own special voodoo juice made with cruzan rum called Mamawanna, made by Norma out in the west end rain forest, damn I'm getting thirsty!

+1 That is my favorite 3

Actually last yr Zaya moved from Guatemala and it now tastes like Pampero. It's got a similar heavy vanilla nose to it and is not nearly as good as it used to be

Goslings if I can't get the above and I keep it around for Dark and Stormys

Also,

HC-3 for Mohitos
HC-7 just for drinking

Alright Chall - about this Angostura. I buy this bottle that looks like steak sauce. Has Angostura on the front of it. I spend 2 hours shaking out enough for a double shot over ice and slam the sucker. Then I immediately go into convulsions on the floor and have to defib myself with an iron. Surely you don't mean Angostura Bitters. What the hell are you talking about?

Oh - my bad. Missed the 1919 part. Damn.

Thats actually quite amusing

The bitters does get alot of folk confused.....now go back out and get the damn rum, meanwhile put a tottle of bitters in a glass with some 7up and a twist of lime and you will have a very well behaved drink you can offer churchlady when she gets home

Thank gawd Angostura don't make a chilli sauce or things could of gone real bad.

Okay you got me. I didn't really use an iron for defib.

Anyway - only REAL sailors can handle a double shot of AB on the rocks, baby!

For maximum enjoyment, here's the sequence:

1. Take a lime slice and squeeze it into your left eye.
2. Throw a pinch of salt into your right eye.
3. Slam the AB.
4. Collapse, convulse and weep like a schoolgirl.
5. Stagger to your feet and sign autographs.

Trust me, doctoral co-eds love this kind of thing.
