Re: Rum enjoyment

A couple I like a lot I bought in Belize years ago. One by Cuello's Distillery and the other is Brugal......

BUT, the one I drink most often on board is a "doctored" Cruzan Black Strap!

I picked this up on a stay in Tahiti, you open the bottle and drop in a whole vanilla bean, close it up and set it aside for a few months! It's then sipped neat or over one rock, is you have it.

A GREAT sun-downer!

Re: Rum enjoyment

Someone needed to resurrect this thread, too much here to ignore forever.

Mooncusser
Over ice,

3 dashes Angostura bitters
2 oz gold rum
fill with cream soda.

Designed around Great Lakes Distillery's Roaring Dan Rum, a molasses rum redistilled with maple syrup to give a different note. Named for the only man ever formally accused of piracy on the Great Lakes.

Re: Rum enjoyment

I agree. This thread is one of the best on here.

Great thread, but I find the title to be a bit redundant.

Re: Rum enjoyment

my latest favorite mixer is the LLB (lemon, lime and bitters). LLB is so refreshing on a hot day, or as the LLB&R sundowner

Angostura makes the best I've had

but Angostura is difficult to get here in the states, so the Bundaberg does just fine:

Will have to watch for that when I get back to the Caribbean next month.

Tonight's cocktail is a kind of dirty daiquiri.

juice of 1 large lime
1 oz demerara syrup (Should probably be a little more -- this one's tart)
3 oz Shellback Silver rum

Shake with ice until VERY cold, and strain over fresh ice. It's a big glass, but I probably won't need to make another tonight...

Re: Rum enjoyment

hellsop, first time I had an LLB was on Tortola. Another good drink, and it mixes well with rum, is TING, which is another Caribbean soda, you've probably seen it. TING is unobtainium in my neck of the woods -sniff-

Re: Rum enjoyment

I will have to keep an eye out for some LLB. In the meantime, I think make my own and give that combo a try.

be excellent to each other
