Wine in boxes? Came on guys, Sailors are supposed to be traditionalists. First thing I have made in my boat (after I have bought it) was a decent bottle storage space (up to 12 bottles).
Sailing in Europe where wine is part of the cultural heritage of all southern countries, I make a point of enjoying the richness of each culture, food and wine alike. I cannot say that I have a favorite, I find pleasure on the differences, but in summer I find particularly agreeable the white wines:
Albarinho/Alvarinho from the North of Portugal/Galicia, Planalto from the river Douro vineyards (Portugal), the white Rioja from Haro (Rioja-Spain), the Codorniu Cavas from Cataluña (Spain), the Rosés and whites from Provence (France), the white from Binissalem (Mallorca), from Corsica the Malviose, from Sardinia the Tuvaoes, from Italy the Chianti and next year perhaps I can add to my favorites some of the Croatian white. I have heard some good things about them .
The prices go from 5 to 10 euros a bottle, but you are not just drinking wine, you are savoring culture. Some of these regions were famous for his wines since Roman times.
