jrd22 will become famous soon enough
When hiking at high altitudes (above 15,000') in the Himalayas it was generally cool but very dry and I didn't feel thirsty so it was hard to remember to drink enough water (staying hydrated was also very important to prevent altitude sickness, which I saw victims of every day). I had to resort to a schedule where I would drink 500ml per hour (which probably wasn't enough but I was having to purify all the water which made drinking more than that difficult). Constipation isn't generally a problem while in Asia though ;-)) I find the same thing true while sailing, at least here in the PNW where it's cool, but you can get dehydrated quickly. I try to remember to drink some water every hour, and then add to my hydration after setting the hook with that water that comes in brown bottles.

1 qt water
1/2-1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda (bicarbonate)
1/4 tsp potassium chloride (salt substitute)
6-8 tsp sugar or 1-2 tsp honey

Either way, it isn't my recipe, I grabbed it from a UN site years ago. I just know it keeps my head sharper than plain water or lemon-water does.
I've been just LIVING on this stuff since you posted the recipe - thanx again!
