Another tip about butane stoves: we got our first one at an outdoor sports show. After several years it stopped working, can't remember what the problem was, but I went to the restaurant supply store to buy a replacement as the ones they sold had much higher btu's. We like this stove because we can take it up in the cockpit when we don't want to heat or steam up the cabin.

Racers want to finish first, cruisers never want to finish.

I am a fan of the butane stoves....

I posted this elsewhere on the site - there are two west coast Asian supermarket chains that have stoves from $14. About $25 for a stainless steel cabinet version. Also made in two burner models. $5 for a 4pack of the 8.5oz butane.99 RANCH MARKET and Hmart.com: Online Shopping for Asian Grocery, Korean Kimchi, Rice Cookers, Appliances & more at everyday low prices.

Other nuggets of info: Butane is not heaver than air so it is safer than propane. If the stove refuses to put out gas, check for wear in the mechanism that clamps the tank in place. Add a small paper shim to increase perssure to the tank clamp mechanism. At least one company makes a ceramic radiant heater that uses butane. It's portable and convenient but only gives 2 hours heat from a tank.

Didn't know about heaters. The Stansport portable heater @$28 is something I'll get to use for a small cockpit heater.

Are there any other gadgets anyone knows about?
