re: toast/toasted bread aboard?
What's the consensus on apparatus needed? An electric toaster takes some juice ta run and having an inverter to do toast [only] is right silly. There's the old camping stand-by with the four slice, leaning prop, sheet metal base dealie; but they tend to burn some and be a lotta work for toast.
Anyone have alternatives?
Gotta have my a.m. toast an' coffee :D

Re: toast/toasted bread aboard?
While away from shore power We simply use the propane oven, it works.
It is not the best because the heat is uneven, the slices in the center will be done before the slices on the edges, so rotating is important.
You can also use you rail mounted grill.
While at the dock we use our toaster.

You can do a decent (not great) job by just putting the bread in a frying pan on the stove.

We either fry or use the broiler.

Re: toast/toasted bread aboard?
We've tried them all and this one below does the best job as a stove-top toaster.. does 2 slices at once... quickly too.

We've found them at various RV places, Home Hardwares, but they are becoming harder to find. Not SS, but they last several seasons at least. I think there are SS versions available, and a friend built a bunch out of SS based on the photo so if you know a metal worker that's another option.

A rail mounted gas grill works well.

Re: toast/toasted bread aboard?
Toast. Really? That's what we're worried about these days?

Some kind of chips or maybe a protein bar.

That's it. gotta be kidding me...

I live for bagels and coffee in the morning.

Re: toast/toasted bread aboard?
I used a frying pan while stationed in Italy, electric toasters were just too darned expensive to run.

+1 on the frying pan. I use it dry, flip once, butter the hot side when it's done. No extra devices needed.
