Where do you find hull number?

Trying to register my S2 9.2A in IN which requires a physical inspection to match the hull number on the boat to what is on the paperwork. Here's my question: is the hull number stamped on the hull somewhere? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Thanks for your help!!

Re: Where do you find hull number?

I've typically seen them on the transom, usually either inside the cockpit or just below the hull/deck joint when on the "outside". On my current boat, it is on the port side of the transom, just below the rub rail.

That being said, not all boats have HIN's. I think the S2's came late enough that they SHOULD have them, but mid-70's or early 80's is when HIN's became a requirement.

Re: Where do you find hull number?

HIN/MIC's (Hull identification number/Manufacturers identification code) have been required on all pleasurecraft built or imported into the US since 1971.
By law they are required to be on the upper starboard transom (with exceptions for vessels without transoms). Many builders appear to have had difficulty with these simple instructions.

upper right-hand side of the transom--might be a bit difficult to read.
