Boom rigging 8.5

I'm rerigging my boom and I need help please. Can anyone tell me how it is supposed to be rigged? I think mine has been jury rigged. I have a set of blocks inside the boom the rear one has a wire rope attached, it leads to the topping lift. The other end has braided line which runs to a block inside the forward end of the boom, then it runs back to the rear of the boom where it ends at one of the rear pullies on the end of the boom. It seams to me that this is not correct.

There is also an out haul line on the right rear boom end pull which runs forward inside the boom and comes out of the side of the boom at a pull and then runs rearward to a cleat on the right side of the boom.

The last line runs from the left rear boom end pull inside the mast forward and comes out of the boom at the gooseneck at a jam lever. I think this is a reefing line.

I'd like to rig the boom properly and it seems as though mine has been changed. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Hard to clearly envision what you're describing here. By 'other end' do you mean the other end of the topping lift? It may run back to the boom end so you can adjust it from the cockpit? Does it also lead to a handy cleat there?

This sounds like a typical outhaul setup.

I think you're right.. this sounds typical too.

Some pictures would be a big help.
