Purchasing a S2 6.7

I am purchasing an S2 6.7 but am wondering how easy (or hard) it is to raise and lower the Dagger board when going into shallow water or when beaching the boat. Is the dagger board better than a fixed Keel?
Would you consider a 1980 S2 "Old"? This boat has been very well taken care of.
Thanks in advance,
Bill van
