Sticky Tachometer

My new 1984 S2's tachometer seems a bit 'sticky.' If I give it a little 'tap' with my finger it works.... It is the original control panel ( I think ). Any ideas?

This control panel has the 'id..t lights' plus the tach. I would like to install either a new tachometer or a complete panel of gauges. All ideas appreciated.

I have found that this forum 'sailnet' is great for us OLD new boat owners ( I had a 22' Catalina several years ago and spent my 25th wedding anaversary aboard. Yes, my bride was with me... ) If you want to do the math, my wife and I just passed the 41 year mark.

Anyway, great forum and great information.

Thank You,
Mike

Check and clean the connections for the wiring harness at the tach speed sensor. That will be found somewhere on the engine where the wiring from the tach goes to. Also check and clean the wiring connections on the back of the tach guage itself.
