Snatch block placement on S2 8.0

Ok, here is a newbie question:

I was looking at an S2 8.0 brochure recently (like 10 minutes ago), and I noticed that the photos have the snatch blocks for the genoa/jib placed aft of the winch - nearly level with (abeam?) the cleat

I currently have the snatch blocks on my sailboat set MUCH further forward (I would guess 2-3 feet from the location shown in the photo).

Anybody have any suggestions for the proper placement? I'm usually sailing with the 140 % Genoa.

Also, should I move them forward when I use the 80% working jib?

You can only determine proper placement by looking at the specific sail, both the size of the sail and the height of its clew will affect the proper position of the block. Definately need to move a position for a 140 forward for a 80%

to assess correct placement, look at the sail. Generally, think in terms of the sheet bisecting the angle formed at the clew by the leach and foot of sail. If the foot is tight while the leech is spilling, move the block forward. Alternatively, if the leech is curling while the foot is loose, move the block back.
