Sabre 34 repower?

We're thinking of repowering our Sabre 34. The old Volvo MD 11 is running hot and tired. Any one have any advice on a good replacement that doesn't require major engine bed work, etc.?

Re: Sabre 34 repower?

Engine beds are not usually that major in my opinion. A good start to get input in here would be to have measurements and photos of the existing engine. A quick search brings up Beta most often.

Re: Sabre 34 repower?

Not sure what mods are needed on a 34 but on a 28 & 30 that has a MD7A in it all one needs to do is install a 2X4 on the flat between the engine bed & motor mounts on a Beta.
Not sure where you're located but might be worth talking with Joe @ Sound Marine in CT.

I'm not happy unless I'm complaining about something.
I'm having a very good day!

Re: Sabre 34 repower?

Hi El, Denise and misfits,
I not sure if you are aware of this but this subject on repowering a Sabre 34 was recently covered by the SabreSailboat Yahoo Group. It might be helpful if you check the archives of this Yahoo Group.
