donethat,

I'm going to move your posts into their own thread. The subject line of the one you tagged onto won't bring anyone to answer your question.

Done.... you're going to have to frame your questions more specifically if you expect helpful responses.

Re: Question for Boat Builders

I would like toknow more about the coments about the skegs failing on br offshore 38 cutters. I have built one and although it has never been wet, makes me curious! My shast is 1 3/4 inch solid 316 ss. Custon stuffing box at upper shast and custom bronze foot bushing.

Re: Question for Boat Builders

Assume you're discussing a Bruce Roberts (BR) offshore 38?

Skeg failures would either be due to poor initial engineering or poor construction, substandard materials, or physical damage through grounding, for example.. Hard to know what part you're worried about at this stage.

What are your concerns/issues with masts and deck stepping? Is your boat the ketch or sloop version?

By deck layout I assume you mean winches, tracks, blocks etc for the running rigging - presumably standing rigging chainplates are already in place? It's true there's been advances in equipment and techniques for these kinds of things in recent years, so rethinking some of that may well make sense.

But until we know exactly what you need to know it'll be tough for someone like newhaul to help you much.
