quick question

I have been on a lot of boats, and have found lots of them have flex on the front section of the cabin house. The area that is sloped between the for-deck and the cabin house, not sure what it is called. So I have two questions first what is that area called? Second, is there any reasonable way to stiffen this up? I don't think that section is cored, but it may be. It does not seem it would be easy to access from above or below. The one example I can think of that was bad was an Ericson 27 I was on, but have noticed it on other boats.

Re: quick question

If I had that issue on my boat, I think I would not do anything. That part of the boat would have been stiffer if there was a curve to it. Maybe it would be more at risk of being stoved in if blasted by a boarding wave. However, that boat shouldn't be out in those conditions, anyway.
