After all the great input from this thread I think I'm inspired to build a dropleaf table out of ash with teak accents and fiddles.

I'll just keep the telescoping table top for when the berth is needed.

You could also try to find a Marine Salvage yard in your area and they should have something that could fit your needs thats pre-made from another boat.

Great Ideas!!!

Some great ideas to think about. Wish I knew a real good carpenter in the Annapolis area, anyone come to mind? I would do this myself, but realling am bad at carpentry, real good at electronics and electrical though. Plus I am on the other side of the world now.

BF, I have had a premonition about that table of yours....I see empty tequila bottles, shot glasses and empty pizza boxes. A very nice sociable table.

bottleinamessage is an unknown quantity at this point
Our boat is a 1991 Jeanneau SO 42.1. I really didn't care for the design of the salon . The big round table, the curved settee that one could not comfortably lay down on, and the lack of cabinet/storage.

After much thought, I cut it out and threw it in the dumpster. If you look around in my blog, you'll find before and after pictures. It works way better now, but if I had known what I was getting myself into, I'm not sure I would have done it!

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Oh oops, snag in my DL table location. It will be right over the bilge access! Question is... bolt it down with a big U made from stainless rod that goes under a A big stringer that crosses the bilge? some kind of "quick" release thingy would be nice. Of course it can be a stand alone table that just needs to be secure when under way.

MacGiver thanks for the suggestion but woodworking is a passion for me (keeps me sane) Anyone think Norm Abrams is sexy? Gotta love that plaid!

This causes me to have grave doubts about your sanity...
