BottleinaMessage - you certainly are ambitious!! And you, or your friend have great woodworking skills! Very nice work! I like the extra cabinets.
It looks like a great improvemnent over the round setup.

This is amazing that this thread popped up at this moment. Our CS36T has a very robust centreline table with internal storage. I can see that offshore it would be very important to grab onto (one of the reasons why it's so bulky), but living aboard? With the leafs up it's so large that you can't open and close it with people on the settee. Anyway, Tracy wants room to do her yoga and so this AM I'm pulling it. I'll keep it handy for when we go on any major trips, but right now we just want some space.

I think we'll just using folding tv trays.

Good luck with it Hoff, hope it isn't too hard. I don't think I will be taking mine out completely, but I am going to cut it back significantly. I can't even walk forward without knocking into it.

Rather than removing it entirely, why not remove the leafs, leaving the fold-out supports in place and set up a tray on top, clipped to the centerline "legs" by an edge strip.

That way the center support structure is still there to hang on to in a sea-way and you only put the table top on (stowed under the settee cushions) when you need it at anchor. The table top ends up narrower than your current set-up, but at least you can move around it whilst seated, and it's surprising how narrow the table-top can be whilst still being useful.

Don't have a photo with me right now.. hope this helps.

I made a telescoping center support that will let down low enough to still use the table for the berth (3 nested sections pinned with quick bolts, and a standard cup base epoxied to the hull). A 12 inch drop leaf folds down for convienience from the port settee. I's only a 22, but the drop leaf doesn't extend past the centerboard trunk unless you want it to, but with it down you can't go forward unless you're Spiderman.
They always told me, "On a boat there's a place for everything except you".

After much thought, I cut it out and threw it in the dumpster. If you look around in my blog, you'll find before and after pictures. It works way better now, but if I had known what I was getting myself into, I'm not sure I would have done it!

Thanks for the offer Cam but it would be a rough beat to windward, I'll stick with the 15 hour flight.
