Boat Showers

No Biggie here. Our shower is separated from the head area by a divider and curtain arrangement. When we finish our shower we wipe down the walls, sink and head area leaving our privey very clean indeed. A clean boat is a happy boat.

I wouldn't want one - waste of space. I have sooo many higher-priority things to do with 150 or so cubic feet that I only spend 5-10 minutes per day in anyway! perfectly happy to wipe the head down and open the large hatch that our boat has there - exhausts the humid air in just seconds.

Of course, my first preference is to be anchored in pristine waters where I can get clean by just jumping off the stern.

We used to want a seperate shower stall as well but have since learned the porblem with having one. Vritually every boat I've been in or looked at (limited to a max of around 50 ft) with a stall shower is extremely small, some don't even allow me to bend over to dry yourself and I'm not a big guy. Although they appear nice, their size is typically much too small compared with the surround curtain which alows us the size of the entire head to move while still keeping everything on the other side of the curtain dry. I tried showering on my friend's C400 once on a trip and it was like showering in a coffin. Far more important is a decent size and good water pressure.

I have a separate shower, its a waste of space. You still have to wipe everything down after you shower. Right now its a storage space. I would rather have a big hanging locker like the old Benes, (or maybe the split head like the old Bene 370.) One head, not two, less plumbing. I would gladly get rid of my shower for a proper sit down nav station, bigger aft cabin, or more storage.

That is my focus as well. So far the longest I've been aboard was 3 months and having that cabin was important. My boat has a separate shower section with plexiglas door and it is the same size as my apartment shower in the UK! The bigger Beneteaus have a weird rotating plexiglas door but in each and every ex-charter one I inspected this door didn't work correctly.

I find it too frustrating NOT to have a seperate shower. That is almost a deal killer for us. Wiping down everytime you take a shower and getting spray all over the place is too frustrating as a live aboard. I cannot imagine a Liveaboard boat without a shower that is seperate.

You can alos use it as a nice spot for hanging wet clothes (foul weather gear, for example).

It is also nice that if someone has to use the restroom, you can still do that without the other person running out with soapy hair.

Just my opinions.

Some of the catamarans have a very nice shower setup....but on a monohull less than 40', I don't think a shower is all that practical. On a 28' trimaran...a cockpit shower is probably the best solution over all.

Was it just me, or did the vision of PBeezer showering in the cockpit cause some spewing on the keyboard?? Eh?? Note to self: DO NOT GET THE SLIP NEXT TO PBEEZER! Now John, you don't sing while you shower too, do you?

THis is some vain attempt to get the whole anchorage to yourself, isn't it??

The aft head however, is ensuite with the aft cabin. It encloses a toilet with a shower valve, tiled floor and an operable portlight. The sink is in a separate cabinet within the stateroom - outside of the head compartment.

This setup makes a great shower stall and is used solely for this function.

You're being fictitious . . . right? If not, then let me explain.

The forward head is fitted out nicely with teak doors on the above sink counter storage lockers and below. Not a large space but big enough for it's intended purpose. There is a 4 ft extendable hose, stored below counter and attached to a hand shower mounted above counter - directly adjacent to the Lavac. Even though there is a tiled floor with a sumped drain, we do not use this space for showering - would make a mess of everything, including the teak and two towel holders. The hand shower does serve as a means for rinsing the bowl after use.

The aft head is large and completely enclosed by high pressure laminated marine plywood. There is a tiled floor and drain, a Lavac and a bulkhead mounted shower mixing valve, with shower hose and spray mounted above. A shower curtain covers the teak hinged door enclosing this compartment . . . sit on the Lavac when showering. This is a dedicated shower stall - works very well with a venting portlight and waterproof surfaces.

The teak sink cabinet with hinged counter concealing the sink, is outside of this space - within the private double cabin.

Why does this sound disgusting?
