Please note... the man sails a catamaran, which heels even less than my boat....

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

How about the outboard?

I have a four-stroke outboard and it's about 114lbs. It makes the boat list about 5-10 degrees towards port... Could it be your outboard?

We had a coastal meteorology course all weekend, which meant I couldn't get this dealt with. Turns out someone who worked on the boat went into the bilge and turned the tap connecting the two water tanks. I've never touched it (I leave it open), but SOMEONE closed the #$% and so of course the portside tank was being emptied with use and so the inevitable heel to starboard.

I don't need this CR*P. The engine was also overheating (mechanic didn't check the operating temps after he installed the engine) due to my putting in what turned out to be an incorrect or faulty thermostat. >
I'm sure glad I found this out before I left the dock.

After class we spent three hours cleaning everything the yard didn't clean (which is everything), I put the old thermostat back in, loaded all our stuff back into the boat, and I filled the water tank. The boat is now sitting like an honest boat should and I can't wait to sail home tomorrow. Outlook in Haro Straight is sunny with variable southerly winds.

Sun! Wind! Sailing!

And we're home!!!! Hooray

What is it with us men, must be a character flaw. Whenever we troubleshoot, there are things that we are CERTAIN are not the problem or the answer. "No, I haven't touched that part, so it can't be the problem." Why don't we just check, go down the list and actually check and recheck. Takes what, five minutes? If you remember my water pump fiasco, it was the one thing I was sure of and didn't really check that turned out to be the problem. How many years do we take off our lives being stubborn.

Fair winds, Hoffa. Now get out there and enjoy life.
