A land yacht (rather a Nursery yacht!)

Wasn't sure which topic to post this in...but this is the closest, I guess. A land yacht of sorts... but not Cam style.

This is the cradle by son and I built for our soon to arrive granddaughter. Apologies to TB in advance... my finishing standards are, of necessity, "far from perfect; perfect from afar" (don't have the skills or patience)

A mobile will hang from the gaff.

But it was a nice project, no plans, just pirated some basic dimensions from a web site or two and wung it from there.

"Grandma" did the quilt (and another nautically themed quilt for the crib)

This kid will be a sailor whether she wants to or not!

Very impressive Faster and to my eyes, nicely finished. I've seen various designs of boat cradles before, but that's the first sailboat version.

Would you mind if I forwarded the pics to my son and daughter-in-law, who just had a baby boy? I think they'd both get a kick out of it.

On second thought, I would probably be asked to build one for them . . . as if I have the time. You're going to make a terrific grandpa - nice job.

It's actually a variety of woods, all cherry stained, and regular old Spar varnish. The sides are mahogany doorskin, the spars cedar, and the trim is actually fir/hem.

Since this is the design forum, I have to ask "What is the prismatic coefficient?" With that quilt, she looks to have a high "comfort ratio".
