There are lots of small boats out there that use the battery for ballast (like Hartleys!), but I do wish someone would come up with something safer.

What about fuel cells?? AFAIK, they don't give of toxic gases when splashed with salt water. You could get all the power and hot water you needed from your propane gas bottle!!

We just had 2 new Lagoon 41 hybrids pull in here last week. Both owners were really pumped about the performance of the hybrid.
It really makes sense in a cat to have one diesel and two electrics...but even in a small mono..being able to enjoy AC power on board from a generator without having to by a second diesel is nice. Still pricey...but I bet we see more and more of this in the future.
