a modern classic cruising yacht (classic looks, modern materials) over on a thread at SA. They did this with the Flying Tiger FT-10 and it was a resounding success. They also did it with the FT-7.5 which is going to production soon. Anyway, Bob wants some pics of my boat because he's thinking along those lines. I don't have any good underway shots from another boat so does someone up here near Anacortes wanna meet up with me Sat to take some pics?
Charlie -- That is a terrific thread. And Tad Stevens is throwing in comments as well. I hang out on SA quite a bit but don't post much. I also have a different name on that site, so I have to keep my split personality in check.
Bob Perry is quite a guy to spend so much time posting on SA. His recent book is also terrific. He has such a simple, straight forward approach to explaining things that seem to get all mucked up here. He also can design ANYTHING. Name your style, he can do it. Anyway, it's great to have access to real design professionals.

It's very cool to be able to read posts and follow along with the guy who designed my boat

He's a pretty cool guy to hang out and have a beer with too. One of my Sons and I helped him move some heavy stuff into his new beach house/office. He still owes me a line drawing for that. One of these days, I've gotta sail over to his mooring, have dinner and take him sailing on Oh Joy.
Charlie -- I've talked to him at the Annapolis show before. Very nice guy. At some point on SA I'll tell the story of the first time I talked with him at the boat show. It's one of my most embarrasing moments ever -- and Bob just let it slide. Cool guy. And I love his boats. The variety of designs is impressive. Labatt, you need to read his new book!

First contact I had with Perry was when I bought my first boat, a Perry designed Islander 28. He is such an i9nteresting man with many great stories.
I also saw him and talked with him at the Annapolis Boat Show and also at a special open house which Crusader Yachts of Annapolis did featuring him speaking at 2 years ago.
Charlie- we'll be in Anacortes this weekend working on the boat(on the hard). Could take the crabber out to get a few pics, it's in Cap Sante. You keep the boat at Skyline IIRC? Let me know your schedule and maybe we could meet you in Guemes Channel. Winds are supposed to be 15-25+K. I've got a lot to do so don't have much time, Sat. or Sun. would work. PM me for a phone #.
