Spreaders really need to be angled slightly upwards as a general rule, since they are supposed to bisect the angle formed by the shroud passing over them. If they don't bisect the angle, the pressures on the spreader will be uneven, often leading to them spreader rotating, and if it rotates far enough, it will break and lead to losing the
rig.
