Exhaust fumes

Was wondering if anyone has had the experience of exhaust fumes coming into the **** pit while under way. If you have run into such a situation how did you over come the problem. My boat of late seems to have exhaust fumes coming back into the cockpit, have checked the complete system to the exhaust port and all is well. I'm thinking its being drawn back throught the **** pit drain just 8 inches above the exhaust port at the stern of the boat.

The only time we get exhaust smell is when we are motoring dead down wind, annoying but doesn't happen very often. Try plugging your cockpit scuppers if you think it might be coming through them, I suppose there could be some kind of backflow through them in the right wind conditions. Good luck.

We get exhaust fumes in the cockpit in our current boat and our prior boat at times and I think it's due to the "station wagon" effect. We crack open the dodger a little bit to get some air moving and that takes care of it for us.
