1933 Estlander Re-build

This is my rebuild project.She is a 1933 mod Estlander all wood Sail Boat

You sir are a braver man than I. Good luck with your project, I take it that you enjoy wood working. What is an Eastlander? Other than the fact that it is a sailboat.
What is you goal as far as a splash date? Looks like you have lots of work ahead of you. Keep us updated with your progress.

She was designed by Gustav Estlander arond 1920.I have no idea where she was built. She is registered in Denmark (K654). I do enjoy wood although I am not a expert I can handle myself to a degree. Any complicated bits are fabricated by a friend. I estemate about two years till she is complete but I should hve her on the water in about eight months. We have very few clasic boat rebuilds in SA so our recorces are limited. I have however sorced all my timber for next to nothing

I'm with TJK on this one. You're braver than I am.

About the only piece of advice I can give you, seriously, is to make sure you have lots of bilge pumps ready when you splash her. Back in the 70's, I helped a friend restore a 1925 Block Island Cutter. She was on the hard for nearly two years, and when we splashed her, she shipped gallons and gallons of water for several days until the hull swelled back up. We had a couple of the biggest pumps Rule made in those days hooked up with hoses that just ran out of the companionway and over the side, and they ran just about non-stop for two days. I honestly thought she was going to sink during the first eight hours. Needless to say, we had a big battery charger going to keep the batteries full, and that first night was a very nervous one.

Yup she has lost olmost 1.5 ton drying out. We have a solar array set up to run the bilge pumps. She has a meranti veneer sheath so ingress will be controlled to some degree. She will spend atleast 24 hrs on the cradle in the water befor tying up at her mooring. No internal fittings or wiring will be done untill she has swelled out.
