Y-flyer, maybe....

I aquired a n old 1955 Y-flyer in bad shape. The entire skin and the board well/trunk were rotted also. Figuring if I build a boat, I will build the whole thing, it is now hardware and a pile of wood to be burned. On top of the boat as if to protect it from the weather was a fiberglass copy of a Y-flyer lower hull.

I may be getting another hull for now, but what to do with this one???
The Y-flyer organization says you need their permission before building a combination wood fiberglass boat, and I may have a class legal hull already.
Ok, here is the question. Midwest lake boat with a Y-flyer lower hull, mast and rig. What would you change on the Y-flyer to make it into the perfect everyday use sailboat? Flat casting deck on the front and rear? Encased side floatation? As you can see in the photo, the cockpit size is pretty much already molded into the hull.
Ideas please!
