The ultimate in simplicity, like sailing a great big Sabot or Optimist. The rig is self-vanging, another advantage.
However you also have the performance deficits mentioned above, and the fact that all your "eggs are in one basket" with respect to your sailplan.
With the Nonsuch boats, that rig, in conjunction with the beamy voluminous design makes for a roomy comfortable boat for its length.
As in all things nautical there are trade-offs.
