Christyleigh, ever thought of modifying them? e.g., enlarging the holes or adding a nautical handle of sorts like attaching a Monkey's Fist

Thanks for the links Michele

I seriously doubt if they will ever rise high enough on my Projects Lists to be addressed. I strongly believe they are a poor design for a boat and I doubt anyone would actually use such a system for a makeover. My original post was half just to throw my comment out there and half to lament the turn of events that left me with a boat full of latches that I have railed against to people in the past ending up on the "boat of my dreams".... If I were to attack the issue I would use something simple like the ones on my previous C320 I showed in my second post even though the style may not fit in perfectly with the rest of my decor. I shuffled some of them around in my major interior changes on that boat and the door hole required would be about the same as my existing ones.

Are the latches on your second post (the Catalina) "push-in pop-out" type.
I see these used often on European boats...I like them.

No, they are simple twist latches. The inside ridge twists while the outer chrome ring remains stationary. I know the push button ones you mean and I have seen them on newer and larger (I don't know which is the driving factor) Catalinas ..... maybe that has become their standard now.

You got me interested so I did some surfing and found both the twist type that I had on my '99 C320 and the push button type that I've seen on my friends C387 at SOUTHCO.COM

Just paid my first visit to their site....nice variety of stuff.
Thanks for the link.

I live in the Middle East and suffer greatly from trying to order stuff from most sites...
I normally try and have a buddy in the states buy and accumulate stuff for me then bundle it all up and send it as a single shipment.

Import formalities are a pain!

It pisses me off…Its hard to think that far ahead!

I’ve made some good headway on my (gadget) dishes drain rack/storage mock-up…still in cardboard…may move up to particle board tomorrow…oh boy!

Here is our rather simple and plain galley compared to those posted above, but it has suited us well for 24 years.
