hello to all my name is Steve and I'm shopping for a boat. I i'm looking at a 87 O'day with a westerbeke diesel with a swing keel, also I was looking at a 78 Oday swing keel with a omc sail drive but have not had good response on the drive as of now the 87 sits in salt water but will be moved to fresh water,? is this a problem. Comments and views would be appreciated.
The OMC sail drives have a bad reputation. I would stay away. Is the Westerbeke raw-water cooled or fresh-water cooled (with a heat exchanger)? If the second, I wouldn't be worried about the years in salt water. If you get serious, have it surveyed.
