C&C 26 with 10' beam
I have been looking at small used cruising boats in the 25-30' range.
The late 70s C&C 26 is an unusually beamy boat for C&C at 10'. It seems as if beam on most boats is usually about 1/3 of overall length.
What likely effects would this have on performance and the sailing characteristics of the boat? (I am not interested in racing).
A friend has one, seems to sail very similarly to my 24' (which manages an 8'9" beam so pretty similar ratio). Feels like it needs to be heeled over 10-15deg to really get going and when it gets into that zone, you can really feel it take off. Plenty of room inside, decent boat from what I can tell. Don't think you can go wrong really, assuming it's in decent enough condition.
