sailing north

Hi everyone,
I'm new to sail net, but read the forums all the time.
My 26 islander is in San Diego and I would like to sail her up to Portland In the next year. Beside Point Conception and the mouth of the Columbia River are there any other major issues and who out there has made the same voyage.

thanks,
islander 26

There are several threads on attempting to sail north.

Your standard response is likely to be "truck it." You will be fighting wind and current the whole way.

Nah don't truck it, just go through Hawaii, Japan, and Alaska. Not only would you have the current, it'd be a lot more fun than hiring a truck!

I don't really know how hard it would be to go straight north, but I do know in general you want to go clockwise around the oceans in the Northern Hemisphere.

Jackdale's suggestion is pretty valid its a rough go. Be prepared.
