Spreader Lights

Our daughter purchased a set of spreader lights for me for Christmas. I need to mount them very soon, as the boat will be going in shortly. I have wooden spreaders that fold when the mast is down. The boat is a Ranger 26 and the mast is 3 feet long. The new power wire is already drilled through, and coiled in the starboard side of the mast. I'm fairly mechanical, so I'm nbot concerned, but new to sailing. Can anyone give me some advice as to wher on the spreaders the lights should go, and should I run the Port lighht wire through the mast. I have Halyards going up ob both side of the mast.

Any suggestions or problems I may not be thing about would greatly help.

I'm thinking 1/2 way between the mast and the end of the spreader, but I really don't Know.

Thanks alot

About halfway out on the spreader sounds perfect.

I normally split the wire into a Y and leave the junction inside of the mast. Or rather push it back inside the mast. Then I run each leg out of the mast under the spreader and out to the light.

It's best to have the wire running up the mast inside of a conduit. Otherwise, the wires will probably make some noise slapping the inside of the spar. They also may eventually get chafed by the halyards.
